          Ciprofloxacin HCl

Indications:

          Treatment of infections of the GUT, resp tract, middle ear & paranasal sinuses, GIT, bile ducts, bones & joints, skin & soft tissues, sepsis, peritonitis, eye infections; prophylaxis of infections in immunocompromised patients.

Contraindications:

          Hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics. Childn & adolescents. Tendinitis or history of tendon rupture.

Special Precautions:

          Avoid unnecessary exposure to sunlight or UV radiation. Epilepsy or patients w/ lowered convulsion threshold.

Dosage:

          Resp tract infections 250-500 mg bd. Acute uncomplicated UTI 250 mg once-bd. Complicated UTI 250-500 mg bd. Acute, uncomplicated gonorrhoea 250 mg once daily. Uncomplicated GI infections 500 mg once-bd. Other infections 500 mg bd. Severe, life-threatening infections; recurrent episodes of infection in cystic fibrosis; bone & joint or abdominal infections; sepsis due to Pseudomonas, Staph or Strep 750 mg bd.
